Fall

Fall was long in the sense of hard work, but fleeting in the sense of time. As you can see we've made a lot of progress. As winter moves in (and with a vengeance already... snow on 12/4) we are getting down to the nitty-gritty. We plan to be completely moved in by the end of December though we'll still have plenty of details to complete before it is truly finished.

Summer

Summer is always a busy time, but this summer has proved to be more extra-challenging. We have been working diligently... nearly every night after work and all weekends. But the efforts are not in vain. We have made significant progress, moving ever closer to moving in! We know without doubt that we will be in no later than December 1st.... since that's the cutoff for the first-time home owner tax credit!
We are all wired up - upstairs & down. The A/C is in and all the insulation is up so we are now working in the cool! We are prepping for wallboard to begin going up this week. We've even started talking about paint colors!
Left to go: water line from road, septic installation, wallboard, frame closets, prime/paint, cabinets, flooring, trim, and fixtures...whew! Hopefully, this positive pace of progress will continue.

Neighbor helping with running the wire...

Wires run to wall boxes...

Tara wired all the double plugs in the shop!...

The indoor A/C handler...

Our duct work (Lance thinks it looks like a monster:))...

Our "padded room" :) - insulation completed...

Someone told us that baby powder would keep the fiberglass from irritating our skin - it really did work!...

Our new additions... hopefully to become the world's greatest mousers!...

Another awesome creature we've observed... (And the right end is the front!)

Spring

Okay, so it was not the original intent to only update quarterly, but, alas, life moves quickly and, afterall, we are building a barn... :)
We've been working weekends and weekday evenings as much as we can. We feel like it takes forever to see progress, but it really has come a looong way! We're finishing plumbing now and then have HVAC, electric, insulation, wallboard, painting, flooring, & trim...whew! We keep pushing the potential move-in date back and back, but we're hoping to be done by the end of summer! Thanks for your continued interest :)

We've got power!

And we're thankful for it!

We've got all the major walls framed up inside...

Kitchen wall...

Getting the bathroom done to get the final tub position in for plumbing...

"Raising the bar" - The stairwell wall...

We took the last week of April off from jobs and worked/slept/ate down there!

We got the tractor back, Wow! (Look back to 6/2/08 post)...

We've had sooo much rain... this is 1 of 3 waterfalls on our land :)...

Winter

Here are some long-awaited updates... Please forgive for the wait as well as the brevity. We love you all and are so appreciative of your interest in our lives, your thoughts, comments, encouragement, and accountability (Tim :P).

The roof tin has been done for a while (because we hired it!), but the sides and front have been an on-and-off project for us depending on the weather (it has been quite cold and wet so far this winter!)

A view from the back...

Doesn't this look quaint :)...

The view from the other field (sorry for the digital zoom...)

Looking up from the shop to the roof (before flooring)...

Lance and David working on floor...

No more acrobatic stunts required, we have a solid floor now!...

Testing the layout of the bathroom; it has Lance's seal of approval (and for the record, it was just the two of us that got that tub upstairs!!)...

Impromptu graffiti... Awww....
